Also required

Not registry lookups; ezOIG doesn't run these
  • BCI fingerprint criminal records check for applicants for direct care of an older adult (60+), with an FBI check when the applicant cannot show five years' Ohio residence (ORC 3721.121(B); OAC 3701-16-06(L)(2))
  • Medical examination within 30 days before starting work or on the first day (OAC 3701-16-06(C))
  • First-aid training within 60 days of hire for staff who provide personal care (OAC 3701-16-06(E)(1))

Why some registries are not screened yet

The registry blocks automated access
The registry's website turns away automated lookups. We don't work around that, so for now your staff search it themselves.
Requires an employer account
Searches go through the employer's own account with the agency, so ezOIG doesn't run them for you.

Guidance, not legal advice

This page summarizes ezOIG's research into Ohio's rules for this program, checked against the regulations as of October 16, 2026. Rules change, and an agency's own contract or license can add to them. Confirm what applies to you with Ohio Department of Medicaid or your own counsel before relying on it.
