Expected checks

Standard practice, or implied by a provider's enrollment duties; no rule names them outright

NOT SCREENED YET The registry blocks automated access
    WHEN
MONTHLY At hire and monthly, agencies enrolled in Ohio Medicaid
    BASIS
ODM's list page says a listed person may not be an employee of a Medicaid provider; Ohio's rules for this program do not name the list; monthly checking is standard practice; the Medicaid provider agreement (OAC 5160-1-17.2(H)) certifies that no employee is subject to a Medicare or Medicaid sanction

If an individual or company is on the list, the individual or company may not be an owner in whole or in part; officer or partner; authorized agent, associate, manager, or employee of a Medicaid provider.

Also required

Not registry lookups; ezOIG doesn't run these
  • BCI fingerprint criminal records check at hire, and every five years after (OAC 3701-60-06(A), (B))
  • FBI check when the applicant cannot show five years' Ohio residence (OAC 3701-60-06(C))

Why some registries are not screened yet

The registry blocks automated access
The registry's website turns away automated lookups. We don't work around that, so for now your staff search it themselves.
Requires an employer account
Searches go through the employer's own account with the agency, so ezOIG doesn't run them for you.

Guidance, not legal advice

This page summarizes ezOIG's research into Ohio's rules for this program, checked against the regulations as of October 16, 2026. Rules change, and an agency's own contract or license can add to them. Confirm what applies to you with Ohio Department of Medicaid or your own counsel before relying on it.
