Also required

Not registry lookups; ezOIG doesn't run these
  • Multi-state check: seek information from every state nurse aide registry the facility believes holds information on the aide (42 CFR 483.35(d)(5))
  • Name-based judicial record check when a fingerprint check shows an arrest without a disposition (C.R.S. 25-1-124.5(1))
  • The CBI inquiry may instead go to a private background check company approved by the State Board of Nursing (C.R.S. 25-1-124.5(1))
  • Nurse aide performance review at least every 12 months (42 CFR 483.35(d)(7))

Why some registries are not screened yet

The registry blocks automated access
The registry's website turns away automated lookups. We don't work around that, so for now your staff search it themselves.
The registry's terms forbid automated searches
The registry's terms, or the law behind it, rule out automated or third-party searches, so ezOIG doesn't run them.
Requires an employer account
Searches go through the employer's own account with the agency, so ezOIG doesn't run them for you.

Guidance, not legal advice

This page summarizes ezOIG's research into Colorado's rules for this program, checked against the regulations as of October 15, 2026. Rules change, and an agency's own contract or license can add to them. Confirm what applies to you with Department of Health Care Policy and Financing (Health First Colorado) or your own counsel before relying on it.
