Also required
Not registry lookups; ezOIG doesn't run these- Hospice contracts must require contracted entities to run criminal background checks on their staff with patient contact (42 CFR 418.114(d)(1))
- Orientation and documented competency before direct patient care (6 CCR 1011-1 Chapter 21, §§ 7.6, 7.7)
- Hospice aide training and competency (42 CFR 418.76)
Why some registries are not screened yet
- The registry blocks automated access
- The registry's website turns away automated lookups. We don't work around that, so for now your staff search it themselves.
- The registry's terms forbid automated searches
- The registry's terms, or the law behind it, rule out automated or third-party searches, so ezOIG doesn't run them.
- Requires an employer account
- Searches go through the employer's own account with the agency, so ezOIG doesn't run them for you.
Guidance, not legal advice
This page summarizes ezOIG's research into Colorado's rules for this program, checked against the regulations as of October 15, 2026. Rules change, and an agency's own contract or license can add to them. Confirm what applies to you with Department of Health Care Policy and Financing (Health First Colorado) or your own counsel before relying on it.
