Also required

Not registry lookups; ezOIG doesn't run these
  • Written notice from each worker of criminal convictions, pending felony charges or Central Registry placement, at hire or within 10 days (MDHHS–PIHP contract, Schedule A, § 2.5.B.3)
  • Respite and CLS workers in good standing with the law: not a fugitive, not a convicted felon under jurisdiction or whose felony relates to the duties (Medicaid Provider Manual, Behavioral Health and IDD Supports and Services)
  • Recipient rights training and first aid for aides (Medicaid Provider Manual, Behavioral Health and IDD Supports and Services)

Why some registries are not screened yet

The registry blocks automated access
The registry's website turns away automated lookups. We don't work around that, so for now your staff search it themselves.
The registry's terms forbid automated searches
The registry's terms, or the law behind it, rule out automated or third-party searches, so ezOIG doesn't run them.
Checked by request to the agency
The agency answers a written request or form rather than an online search.

Guidance, not legal advice

This page summarizes ezOIG's research into Michigan's rules for this program, checked against the regulations as of October 15, 2026. Rules change, and an agency's own contract or license can add to them. Confirm what applies to you with Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) or your own counsel before relying on it.
