Also required

Not registry lookups; ezOIG doesn't run these
  • State fingerprint background check for employees of HOPE Waiver-contracted centers and homes (LTSS Provider Policy Manual, Background Check)
  • Health evaluation for communicable disease within 14 days of employment, and TB testing within 21 days (ARSD 44:70:04:05, 44:70:04:10)
  • Community living home owners, operators, care providers and household members may not have a conviction for abusing or neglecting another person (ARSD 44:82:01:05)

Why some registries are not screened yet

The registry blocks automated access
The registry's website turns away automated lookups. We don't work around that, so for now your staff search it themselves.
The registry's terms forbid automated searches
The registry's terms, or the law behind it, rule out automated or third-party searches, so ezOIG doesn't run them.
Paid access
The agency charges for access, and ezOIG doesn't include it yet.

Guidance, not legal advice

This page summarizes ezOIG's research into South Dakota's rules for this program, checked against the regulations as of October 16, 2026. Rules change, and an agency's own contract or license can add to them. Confirm what applies to you with South Dakota Department of Social Services, Division of Medical Services (HCBS waivers operated by the Department of Human Services) or your own counsel before relying on it.
