Also required

Not registry lookups; ezOIG doesn't run these
  • Background checks in every state lived in during the past five years, unless the name-based check is nationwide, or an FBI fingerprint check (ARM 37.106.2816(2)(a)(i))
  • FBI fingerprint background check at hire for all staff of a Category D facility (ARM 37.106.2899C(2)(b))
  • Do not employ anyone found guilty in court of abuse, neglect, exploitation, mistreatment or misappropriation of property (MCA 50-5-225(4)(a))
  • Orientation, abdominal thrust and first aid training, and two hours of dementia training at hire and yearly for direct care staff (ARM 37.106.2816(3)-(5))

Why some registries are not screened yet

The registry blocks automated access
The registry's website turns away automated lookups. We don't work around that, so for now your staff search it themselves.
Paid access
The agency charges for access, and ezOIG doesn't include it yet.

Guidance, not legal advice

This page summarizes ezOIG's research into Montana's rules for this program, checked against the regulations as of October 16, 2026. Rules change, and an agency's own contract or license can add to them.
