Also required

Not registry lookups; ezOIG doesn't run these
  • Family home agencies and family homes: DOJ (and FBI where applicable) fingerprints for staff, adults in the home and anyone with frequent and routine contact, submitted within 4 days of employment, residence or presence (Cal. Welf. & Inst. Code § 4689.2)
  • Vendors that are CDSS-licensed facilities also follow that facility's clearance rules (see Adult Residential Facility and Adult Day Program)

Why some registries are not screened yet

Requires an employer account
Searches go through the employer's own account with the agency, so ezOIG doesn't run them for you.

Guidance, not legal advice

This page summarizes ezOIG's research into California's rules for this program, checked against the regulations as of October 15, 2026. Rules change, and an agency's own contract or license can add to them. Confirm what applies to you with Department of Health Care Services (Medi-Cal) or your own counsel before relying on it.
